Can you help me with my crock pot disaster?

I just prepared everything for my potroast and everything is in there ready to go but I just broke the lid! Do you think it would be safe to use a gl plate because I can't get a new crockpot today. None of the lids from my other pans will fit it but I found that a plate will fit it just fine....
